Tatiana Kovaleva:
Tatiana is
originally from St. Petersburg, Russia. She relocated to the New Jersey,
USA in 1999 after retiring from the competitive international trampoline
scene. She reached the pinnacle of the trampoline world at the 1996 World
Trampoline Championships in Vancouver, Canada. She returned to St.
Petersburg with 3 medals, two of them gold. Tatiana helped earn Russia
the gold medal in the competition, and received the bronze for the synchronized
competition. It was the individual ladies' competition, however, where
she really shined, earning her place in Trampoline History. She was
crowned the 1996 World Trampoline Champion, the most
coveted and respected title in the trampoline world at the time.
She would go
on to win two more World Championship gold medals in Sydney, Australia in 1998,
and Sun City, South Africa in 1999. Both medals came in the team
competition. The 1999 World Championships competition also acted as
the Olympic Trial for the 2000 Olympic Games.
Only one athlete per country was allowed the opportunity to compete
in trampoline's debut on the Olympic stage. After placing
a disappointing tenth behind two of compatriots, Tatiana's Olympic
dreams faded, and she hung up her leotard and tramp shoes. In her
athletic career, she earned 4 medals from World Championships (3
of them gold), she is European Champion, and two-time World Cup Final
Silver Medalist.
Her coaching
credentials are just as impressive. In only 8 years here in America,
she has had 10 elite athletes, 4 national team members, and 7
national champions. In 2008, 4 of Tatiana's athletes
competed in the 2008 US Olympic Trampoline Team Trials, more than any
other private club. She continues to thrive as a coach and role
model for her athletes, and grow her program. With over 70 kids now
on the Ultra Twisters team, Tatiana is hoping that she can lead her
athletes to being as successful athletically as she was.
Tatiana is an
international FIG Brevet judge, and is on the United States National Coaching
Staff, as well as the US Technical Committee.
Kyle Bowen:
Kyle is
originally from Danielson, CT, a small town in the heart of New England.
He started training trampoline in 1999 at The Trampoline Place in Pomfret, CT. After only 2 years of training and
competing, Kyle was named to Junior National Trampoline Team, and in 2002 moved
to Middletown, NJ to train under 1996, 1998, and 1999 World Champion Tatiana Kovaleva. Although always falling short of
making the senior national and world championship teams, Kyle was chosen
in 2007 to become a resident athlete at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado
Springs, CO, one of only eight others chosen. After returning to New
Jersey in January of 2008, Kyle trained for the 2008 Olympic Team Trials.
After finishing 7th overall, Kyle decided that it was time to focus on other
aspects of the sport. He has been an international (FIG Brevet) judge
since 2005, and has been the Ultra Twisters First Assistant Coach since joining
the program in 2002, helping coach 4 Ultra Twisters to national titles.
Kyle is also the judging representative to Trampoline and Tumbling Region 6.
